What opportunities will Armenia-EU agreement provide?
Sergey Avetisyan, Director General at General Department of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Armenia, reminded reporters today that the first round of negotiations over the Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement between Armenia and the EU has been launched. He stated that pursuant the agreement the Republic of Armenia will join EU Common Aviation Area, as a result of which the parties will mutually liberalize the market providing air companies the opportunity to exploit routes without any restrictions.
“We had rather productive and dynamic negotiations with our partners, where we have certain issues, which need bilateral clarification. The forthcoming steps have been outlined and we have fixed that the third step of negotiations will be held in Brussels, upon initial agreement in the second half of June,” he said adding if everything develops this way, they’ll quickly reach end of talks.
He said the agreement is of paramount importance for development of Armenia’s civil aviation, “Basically we liberalize the field with all EU member countries, we introduce the legal regulations in legislation, which will establish a legal ground and basis, that air companies felt more secure and predictable. By this agreement all issues will be solved and Armenia will become a member of this big family, which will provide the opportunity both local and EU aviation companies to more activate their work.”
