Armenia, Russia work on finding legal solutions to ensure execution of Permyakov’s sentence

Armenia and Russia try to find legal solutions to ensure the execution of sentence of Valery Permyakov, the Russian soldier who massacred a family of 7 in Gyumri in 2015, Vigen Kocharyan, Deputy Justice Minister, told “Armenpress”.

“As we earlier reported, the Justice Ministry is discussing the organization of Russian citizen Valery Permyakov’s prison term. Given that both the courts of Russia and Armenia made respective decisions on the avobementioned person, the discussions currently are being held also with the Russian side aimed at finding necessary legal solutions to ensure the execution of the sentence. If a decision is made, the Justice Ministry will inform the public,” the Deputy Minister said.

Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian military base of Gyumri, killed an entire family of six on January 12, 2015 in the city. A 6 month old baby survived the attack and was hospitalized.

Unfortunately, doctors were unable to save the baby, who died after 7 days due to severe stabbing wounds. Permyakov was apprehended while trying to cross the Armenian-Turkish border. In 2016, the murderer was sentenced to life in prison.
