20 people killed in Artsakh by Azerbaijani fires in 10 months: Ruben Melikyan
During the period from May 1 2016 to February 28 2017, 20 people were killed by the Azerbaijani fires in Artsakh, Ombudsman of Artsakh Ruben Melikyan said at a press conference in Armenpress.
“We consider this a very large number. We regularly raise our voice that Azerbaijan constantly violates the ceasefire regime. Our task is to present the situation in a language understandable for the international community, to report on the violations which, in fact, we do,” he said.
During the abovementioned period, the Ombudsman’s Office carried out a fact-finding activity. As for the last months, Ruben Melikyan said they are following the number of violations, there is a period when the tension increases, the opposite happens as well.
“But I would like not to focus on this. Why, because we understand that the situation can change at any moment. There was no trend of increase of tension on February 22 or 23 for us to say that the next is the sabotage attempt.
We are in that danger and we need to look at it with open eyes. Let’s try to use this to become stronger and form a viable society,” the Artsakh Ombudsman said.
