Catholicos Aram I sends congratulatory letter to newly elected President of France Emmanuel Macron
His Holiness Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia sent a congratulatory letter to newly elected President of France Emmanuel Macron on behalf of the Catholicosate and the Dioceses.
“The historical and friendly ties of our two peoples motivate us to wish that France will be able to find its internal unity and will flourish during your presidency. France plays an important role in the international platform.
We are confident that France will always remain an advocate of justice and human rights in all sides of the Caucasus, Middle East and the world for the support of rights of peoples and universal values. We expect you will continue former President Francois Hollande’s support and behavior towards the Armenian National Committee.
We wish you will continue and will further strengthen France’s role in the OSCE Minsk Group for the independence of Artsakh and establishment of lasting peace in South Caucasus,” the letter said.
He also raised the issue of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, expressing hope that Macron will assist the works directed towards the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey and the restoration of rights of the Armenian people.
