Fashion designer Carolina Herrera’s nephew killed in Venezuela
The nephew of fashion designer Carolina Herrera was discovered dead inside a truck outside the capital of Venezuela, officials said.
The body of 34-year-old Reinaldo Jose Herrera was found along with the remain of a second man Thursday night on a highway connecting Caracas to the city of La Guaira, according to a statement from the public prosecutor’s office.
NBC 6 South Florida reported that Herrera was dining with 31-year-old Fabrizio Mendoza at a Caracas restaurant on Thursday when they were both abducted by a gang of criminals.
The group then asked for a ransom for the two men. Although the ransom was allegedly paid, both men were found dead later that night, the report said.
Herrera is the nephew of the 78-year-old Venezuelan fashion icon Carolina Herrera, who lives in New York. The designer or her company could not be reached late Friday night.
