Azerbaijan plays with fire: David Babayan

“Unfortunately, we recorded a casualty—this is irreversible loss, like any of them. Azerbaijan simply is playing with the fire. Such behavior, manifestation of such impudent, irreverent attitude towards the international community, I consider shouldn’t remain with no reply. Soon it may be anticipated that in case of continuity of such behavior tougher and more painful steps will be taken toward Azerbaijan: we hope it’ll be so,” Davit Babayan, spokesman of the President of Artsakh, told 168.am.

Note, OSCE MG Co-Chairs appeared with a statement on May 18 condemning Azerbaijan. After the statement, unfortunately, Azerbaijan continued escalating the situation on the contact line. And today, 21 year old soldier of Artsakh’s Defense Army, identified as Karen Danielyan, has been shot dead by Azerbaijani forces in a military base of Artsakh in the northern direction.

David Babayan stresses that they anticipated hysteric reflection from Azerbaijan after the statement issued by OSCE MG Co-Chairs, “We told their reflection will be hysteric, they couldn’t accept well that statement as power of Aliyev’s clan, on their proceeding with that looting, and manifestation of any fear or concern at least publicly, may be accepted by people as weakness or timidity of Aliyev’s clan. Although he is weak and timid, that bribery, when he bribes various people seems to give some strength. However, as it’s seen that process already comes across with serious obstacles and can’t continue with such productivity.”
