Eduard Abrahamyan: “It will be the stupidest thing that our nation has ever done throughout its existence spanning millennia”

Researcher of the School of Intelligence, Security and Strategic Studies at the University of Leicester, UK, Contributing Analyst at the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute Eduard Abrahamyan wrote the following on his Facebook page: “The impression that a certain outside force is manipulating through its assets within the Armenian political elite for negative polarization within the political elite (consequently within the scope of the public as well) is becoming more and more reinforced. In this period, artificial contrast between the sector of the Armenian political elite in Artsakh and the new generation of Armenian politicians is being directly or indirectly created.

Indirect evidence of this tendency is, for instance, the motion that the “presidents” of the Artsakh province and the “accidental” search of the car of Vitaly Balasanyan. This is how an environment for separatism and polarization is created.

Classification of outlooks and identities within the Armenian political elite and the Armenian public is impermissible. Internal conflicts between politicians must not lead to consequences in terms of outlooks and identification. It will be the stupidest thing that our nation has ever done throughout its existence spanning millennia. Thus, I call on everyone in Yerevan, Stepanakert or Gyumri and the representatives of Pashinyan’s team and the collective opposition to be prudent.”
