Delegation led by Serzh Sargsyan hosted at Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies

Today, during the working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, the delegation led by third President of the Republic of Armenia, President of the Republican Party of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan was hosted at Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies where Serzh Sargsyan had a meeting with President of the Centre, former Prime Minister of Slovakia Mikuláš Dzurinda.

President Sargsyan said what was noteworthy was the fact that the meeting was taking place at the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies since Martens was a good friend of Armenia and a great advocate for Christian and democratic values, visited Armenia several times and directly helped lay the foundation for the cooperation between the Republican Party of Armenia and the European People’s Party (EPP), which is the largest political family in Europe.

Serzh Sargsyan also praised the contributions and comprehensive support of Wilfried Martens to Armenia’s rapprochement with Europe.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies and the Luys Cultural, Scientific, Educational Foundation, the co-founder and president of the board of trustees of which is Serzh Sargsyan.

Serzh Sargsyan told his interlocutor about the mission and activities of the Foundation, adding that the Foundation’s work is absolutely transparent and that it is held accountable for its activities.

Luys Cultural, Scientific, Educational Foundation has submitted an application to join the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, and Mr. Dzurinda expressed his support to the initiative.

The interlocutors highlighted the importance of educational activities and research and analysis, including research and analysis on the fight against populism.

At the request of Mikuláš Dzurinda, Serzh Sargsyan touched upon the developments and challenges in Armenia’s domestic politics and foreign policy.
