Velery Permyakov to serve his sentence in Russia
Considering the public interest over the case of the murder of the family of the Avetisyans in Gyumri, the Justice Ministry of Armenia informs that the Ministry has received the decision of the Court of the Russian Federation on recognizing the verdict of the Shirak District First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction and implementing it in the territory of the Russian Federation, the press service of the Justice Ministry of Armenia informed.
The decision of the Russian Court guarantees the full and unconditional implementation of the verdict of life-sentenced Valery Permyakov as prescribed by the international agreements between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation.
On August 23, 2016 Valery Permyakov – serviceman of the Russian military base of Gyumri – was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murders of seven members of the Avetisyan family. Valery Permyakov murdered 7 members of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri on January 12, 2015.
The youngest victim was a 6 months old baby. Six of the victims were gunned down, and the baby was stabbed. Permyakov was apprehended while trying to illegally cross the Armenian-Turkish border. Earlier, a criminal case was filed from the Russian side, which sentenced Permyakov to 10 years imprisonment for illegal possession of firearms and absence without official leave.
