Announcements that downgrade the opposition
“Such announcements downgrade the opposition and create weak image for them,” says Armenian National Congress party representative Arman Grigoryan concerning Zarouhi Postanjyan’s question to president Sargsyan whether he has lost money in European casinos.
Arman Grigoryan believes EU delegates are not familiar with the political environment in Armenia, thus due to such behavior they may think the Armenian opposition is composed of delinquent people with bad manners. According to him, Armenia’s image suffers more from the government’s behavior such as violating elections, imprisoning people because of political motives, etc. “I do not think that Zarouhi Postanjyan’s announcement is anti-patriotic, or they wouldn’t know if she did not say that. The problem is that such behavior is unacceptable in such institutions, and these statements do not create good image for us. Such statements make people think that the opposition is not serious.”
In answer to our comment that Postanjyan was not a permanent member of the delegation to the EU and in order to ask a question somebody had to compromise that right to her, and according to our information the right for asking question was compromised by RPA member Arpine Hovhannisyan, he said that the government’s delegates would not think that Postanjyan would ask such question, and probably that is why they compromised that right to her.
