President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on October 26 held a meeting with the Kimberley Process Chair, representative of the United Arab Emirates Ahmed Bin Sulayem in the “Meridian” Expo Center in Yerevan. Ahmed Bin Sulayem has arrived in Armenia to take part in the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) Annual Congress from October 24 to 28.
During the meetings, the sides confirmed that the situation on the ground remains relatively calm. The Co-Chairs underscored that respect for the ceasefire provides a critical foundation for ongoing negotiations, and stressed the importance of fully implementing decisions taken in Vienna and St. Petersburg.
Stressing Armenia-Belarus cooperation expansion possibilities, the Minister stated that USD 35 million trade turnover doesn’t reflect real potential of two EAEU member states: there are all preconditions to develop mutual commodities turnover through EAEU mechanisms.
“Don’t bother for me. It’s idler’s job to say what they want. I’m not going to ask that playwright whether to go to Baku or not, I don’t even know who he is. “Together with the co-chairs, the U.S. is ready to move forward towards the settlement through negotiations. If not now, then when? There are ideas, proposals on the table, and we can work around them. What do we want? We want to see political will by the presidents, I’m sure that through the political will we can have progress in the settlement process,” Warlick said.
The Ambassador explained economic cooperation with Iran by the fact that Free trade economic zone and EEU are attractive to many countries, Iran is among them, which stated on its intention to participate in this exhibition, “The fact that Iran is joining this partnership will be positively reflected in general trade turnover.”
“During the presidential meetings in Vienna and St. Petersburg there was a possibility to talk on a range of issues, and discussion between the presidents was recorded. During those meetings the issue of expansion of OSCE observation mission was discussed under incumbent Chairperson-in-Office Kasprzyk.”
