The One, Who Saw and Enjoyed those Privileges, wouldn’t have Definitely Come Here—Putin has Appointed Him: Armen Badalyan

Armenia’s prime minister has been appointed by Putin. Armen Badalyan, political and electoral technologies’ expert, told 168.am about this.

“Parliamentary elections are ahead, and the West was actively interfering with the process of leadership formation in Armenia, which, naturally, contradicts Russia’s interests, and it has been prevented upon nomination of the PM,” he said, adding: personally you, as a reporter, if you have a position in Moscow, and you are the first deputy of a rather big bank, have a good apartment, rather high salary, good connections, will you leave all that and come to a country, which is in blockade, constantly clashes with one of its neighbors, 80-90% of the budget is shadow, everything is based on monopoly, the population escapes, businesses are being closed and etc.?

“The one, who saw and enjoyed those privileges, for sure, wouldn’t have come. Putin has appointed him in Armenia to prevent the process being implemented as a result of Western ‘soft’ power, purpose of which was impacting on the process of leadership formation and developing comparatively desired political panorama for the West at this stage, during 2017 Parliamentary elections, and after it, in 2022, already developing a totally pro-Western leadership, which will endanger Russia, as its half-century-old military base is deployed here.”

In his words, change of the Government will have some importance, but not a considerable one,

“There are ministers, who will be appointed from Armenia, e.g. of culture, education, there are ministers, whose appointment will be agreed with Russia, e.g. minister of foreign affairs and defense. Ministers of finance and economy will be agreed with newly-appointed PM, i.e. joint cadre appointment will be recorded, upon mutual agreement of Armenian and Russian authorities. Of course, final word will be that of Russia. This isn’t going to be the first step, Russian landing force will rather intensify, as Russia won’t allow Western ‘soft’ power policy work in Armenia. I’ll be able to speak thoroughly of pro-Russian developments after the appointments.”
