Serzh Sargsyan will not take drastic actions during the next five years

President of the Union of Employers of Armenia Gagik Makaryan thinks Serzh Sargsyan will not take any drastic actions aimed at development of the economy after being elected president for the second time. “I think the term of five years is not fully enough for bigger and serious changes. Risks may grow and things may fall out of control. I think he will choose the way of some small and cosmetic changes,” said Gagik Makaryan in a press conference. The president of the Union of Employers believes the government receives maximum 100 million dollars in tax from micro businesses.

“The economy must make sure the small business is free and can breathe easily in order to become small businesses,” said Makaryan and added that dentists would pay maximum 5-6 million dollars in tax and it was not worth hitting the pockets of three thousand dentists. He believes the government adopted a wrong policy in relation to real estate agencies as well. “The one that makes money there is the broker but not the cleaner or clerk of that real estate agency, thus the tax should be levied on brokers but not the entire number of people that work there. This is a wrong policy. I wish the government would be able to expand dialogue out of the country through its agents as well because such things may frighten potential investors,” said Gagik Makaryan.
