The ones who don’t have support attempt suicide
Seven-year old Sahak, who has been a completely healthy child, has started to stammer after the police searched their house once. As a result of the incident connected with his father on October 26, 2012 the operative group of the RA police intruded into their house located on the 1st street of Arinj village of Kotayk.
“They ran into our house in such a way with all their police units that my children were petrified,” says Sahak’s grandmother Arus Sahakyan, who assures that the child was so shocked that he stared to stammer ever since. From that day on Sahak stopped speaking but after the long work of specialists he started to stammer. Sahak’s father Hovhannes Hovhannisyan is currently in the correctional of the RA justice ministry. Hovhannes asks the mother to bring the children to prison to meet him but Mrs. Arus doesn’t dare to do so to make sure that the son doesn’t find out the truth about the children.
Mrs. Arus applied to 168 Zham complaining about the illegal launch of the criminal case against her son. You may meet this woman often on hunger strike in front of various state buildings. She has been sending letters to the minister of Justice, the president, the prosecutor-general voicing the incident connected with her son. But so far there have been no results. Several months ago the associates of the ministry of emergency situations saved Mrs. Arus’s life.
The problem is that she tried to commit a suicide in her house by burning herself. Mrs. Arus insists that she can provide evidence proving the innocence of the son. She had also applied to the chief of police Vladimir Gasparyan who although had promised to investigate into the case but so far there had been no results. “Please I would ask you to draw his attention to this case with this article,” says Mrs. Arus, who is a mother of seven children and grandmother of six grandchildren. She lives in extremely destitute conditions.
The thing is that on October 26, 2012 her son’s friend Artyom Hakobyan, who had an agreement to sell a cell phone to Hovhannes. According to Mrs. Arus, Artyom offered his son a cell phone at 10,000 drams and Hovhannes wanted to buy it for one of his children. “Our house is categorized as 4th level fractures. On those days my son was reconstructing the kitchen wall with his friend Vardan. We weren’t home. My son made dinner and they all ate with Artyom. He gave 3000 drams to Artyom but during the conversations Artyom cursed. After that my son got angry and demanded that he doesn’t curse in his home because his mother and sister might have heard. After that he slapped him. This was the whole story. My son only slapped him for cursing,” tells Mrs. Arus and assures that none of the members of the family could ever believe that Artyom would go to the police and report about the incident.
And he gave a false testimony. Nonetheless, according to the latter’s testimony Hovhannes made a preliminary agreement with Gagik Hayrapetyan in order to snatch Artyom’s phone. “Then he told that they have tied his hands and legs with a duct tape and snatched two Nokia telephones worth 90,000 AMD,” we quote from the persecution of the Kotayk police, from the words of lieutenant H. Asryan. Surprisingly, this telephone argument ended up with a tough accusation and Hovhannes was charged based on 1st and 4th clauses of article 175 of the RA penal code, which anticipates 6-10 years of imprisonment.
Mrs. Arus assures that Artyom Hakobyan is now in prison charged for selling stolen phones. Moreover, his brother is accused of blowing up Allen-Ellen dance club. “And these criminals can judge an innocent person and the police officers may get fake testimonies after beating the suspects. My son didn’t accept the accusations and kept saying that he had only slapped Artyom. He said that he has only slapped him but the police beat him and tortured and made him sign under a wrong testimony.
They punched him so bad on the eye that it was red for many days. They hit him on the heart side and now he’s in the prison clinic,” says Mrs. Arus and meanwhile provides additional evidence about the son’s case and the police might fight interesting facts there. Nonetheless, during the court trial based on the persecution of Asryan, Hovhannes accepted the testimony that the he beaten and robbed Artyom. “The investigator stepped out and said your dupe has admitted his fault. In fact he was violently beaten and that’s why he accepted his fault. In the police they told him that his mother, children and wife were waiting for him outside and that he should sign the testimony and go. They assured him that nobody goes to prison for that.
And he believed that and signed the testimony,” says Mrs. Arus and claims that she had provided this information to all the statesmen relevant to this matter. She also says that she has received many of the facts from her recent visits to the prison clinic.
Therefore, she asks the police leadership to personally listen to his son and find out what had actually happened. Hovhannes was moved from Nubarashen penitentiary to a mental clinic and later to the clinic of the prison. Although he had disability since childhood but these issues have never been astute. “He is a very hard working family guy.
He is so timid and shy that couldn’t have had violent to Artyom. The other guy Vardan has four children and he is being charged with the same penalty. Even the members of Artyom’s family testified against him on how he beat his mother. The guy destroyed my son’s life and he is also in prison for stealing phones from others,” says Mrs. Arus.
