Armenia capitulated unanimously

The Armenian parliament ratified the December 2 intergovernmental agreement between Armenia and Russia with 72 for and 0 against votes. The agreement anticipates not only the take-over of the 20% shares of Armenian ArmRusGazArd by Russia but also restricts the power of Armenian laws pertaining to the company for 30 years. The voting of the agreement, which was labeled “encumbering, degrading and humiliating,” took place not in an electronic way. During the voting the MPs only raised their hands because the head of the Heritage party Zaruhi Postanjyan took away the cards of the MPs planned for e-voting. Without those cards the MPs couldn’t vote. In the parliament the non-governmental parties didn’t participate in the voting and left the NA hall. Boycott was the best solution to save their faces. They have spoken so much about this agreement that they had to vote against it. But some of these MPs wouldn’t be able to vote against the agreement because it would mean that they’re against Russia. The opposition was able to find the right moment to leave the voting hall. The justification for these MPs was that they can now say that they boycotted because they’re opposition but it doesn’t mean that they don’t love Russia. Indeed, the opposition MPs claim that the voting was illegal and are planning to the Constitutional Court, the same court, which only a week ago stated that the agreement doesn’t contradict the Armenian Constitution. But it’s clear that this won’t bring any result besides the creation of some internal turmoil. Instead, the result was that the very last piece of sovereignty of Armenia was given to Russia with 72 for and 0 against votes. But if all the parties of the parliament participate in the voting we would have 72 for and 54 against votes, which would enable or future generations to claim that Armenia’s capitulation wasn’t done unanimously.
