Armenian Economic Activity Increases by 5.5% in January
Armenia’s Economic Activity Index (EAI) for January 2016 surpassed the index of the same period of the previous year by 5.5%. “Armenpress” reports the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia has introduced the current-operative preliminary main macro-economic indicators characterizing the socio-economic situation of Armenia. Trade and foreign trade turnover have dropped.
Construction production volume rose by 5.1% against the same period of the previous year. Electricity production has also recorded increase by 5.2%. Service volume (trade excluded) rose by 5.1% and the gross agricultural production increased by 1.5%. Trade turnover has dropped by 2.7%.
Industrial production rose by 15.7% fixing at 94 billion 430.4 million drams. Average monthly wage increased by 3.5% fixing at 179 thousand and 309 drams. Foreign trade turnover reduced by 13.8% (242.4 million USD) while exports increased by 5.6% and imports – by 22.2%. US exchange rate against the dram was 486.04 in January.
