N. Baskov Learnt to Sing in Armenian to Perform in Yerevan
On March 8 ahead International Women’s Day, famous Russian singer Nikolai Baskov appeared in National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. The surprise has been initiated by RA First Lady Mrs. Rita Sargsyan. After introducing the idea of the initiative to the Russian singer, according to certain information, a “request-claim” has been submitted—ultimately learn and perform two songs in Armenian.
“Summer of love” and “Beautiful girl of Yerevan” songs have been chosen. Baskov was singing in Armenian stressing, almost without an accent.
Before the concert N.Baskov said that he’s always dreamt of appearing with a concert in Yerevan: he participated in weddings or birthday parties with his songs, however, appearing with a concert in Yerevan was for the first time. “At last, my dream came true due to Armenia’s charming and beautiful First Lady. For the first time I met her at “New wave” contest. I quickly bypassed her during that messy period, then I turned and saw First Lady of Armenia, and as it’s said “I knelt down on my knees.” I’m very happy, I have the chance to meet such wonderful, sensitive women. For the first time I see how women are sitting, and men are standing. For a male artist there is no bigger happiness, than see your happy and emotive eyes,” he said.
Baskov’s live concert, as always, was very nice, the signer amazed the audience with his professional performance, scenic artistry and the group of dancers. He was socializing with the audience joking, telling stories of his life and that of Russian show business artists.
