Armenian-Russian high-level negotiations held in Moscow
President Serzh Sargsyan on March 10 met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the framework of a working visit to Moscow. The heads of the two countries, which are strategic partners, discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, touched on the prospects of development of integration processes in the Eurasian region and exchanged views on existing international and regional problems and challenges.
As we was informed from the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Armenian President’s Office, Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin also exchanged views over the current stage of the negotiation process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, issues and opportunities to move the process forward.
“Dear Mr. Serzh Sargsyan, I am very glad to see you.
There is no need to characterize our interstate bilateral relations: our partnership I strategic indeed. I am very pleased to note that our relations are developing successfully.
Of course, there are also problems of an objective nature; I mean first of all our economic cooperation, although here we understand that as a whole we can be satisfied with how we have built the base of our relations. I have no doubt that, based on our combined solutions of the past years, we will develop in this direction.
You are chairing CSTO this year, and I have big hope that will be able to talk with you as a chairman of this international organization, because it is responsible for the security, the fight against terrorism and organized crime and for assuring calmness on our borders. And of course the representative of Armenia – no longer as national but already as an international official, but still your colleague – is heading now our leading integration economic union – EAEU.
So we have very much to talk about, and I am very glad to see you. Welcome! “- Russian President Vladimir Putin told in the meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan
“Thank you, Mr. Vladimir Putin.
I am very glad to meet you and I agree one hundred percent that our relations are developing very well. This is generally a good tradition – to meet at the beginning of the year for summarizing the past year and outlining the guidelines for the current year.
We have mutual understanding both in political and economic, military-technical and in humanitarian sectors, and these relations are developing very well. I want to thank you for the implementation of the agreements that we reached during our last meeting.
As chairman of the CSTO, we pay great attention to the implementation of the decisions that we have taken during the September and December sessions of the CSTO.
We are certainly concerned about the situation in the neighboring area of CSTO responsibility areas. And during the December session, and in my other speeches, I again loudly confirm that we firmly support Russia’s position on the Syrian issue. And of course, we welcome the agreement which you have reached with the United States on the cessation of hostilities. This may be the key to the political solution of the issue.
Today, Mr. Vladimir Putin, the Candidates Tournament of the World Chess Championship launches and as the Chess Federation of Armenia is a sponsor of the tournament, we have dedicated its opening to the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.
A big civilizational exhibition opens in the State Historical Museum of Russia today, and I am sure that Russian citizens will enjoy this exhibition and it will contribute to the strengthening of brotherhood between our peoples.
Mr. Vladimir Putin, I want to thank you personally for the efforts being made by Russia on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We remain committed to a peaceful solution of the conflict “, – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said.
In Moscow, President of Armenia, President of the Chess Federation of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan will also participate in the opening ceremony of the Candidates Tournament of the World Chess Championship.
