Deputy FM: Czech President consistently supports Armenian Genocide recognition

Deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan says Czech President Milos Zeman consistently supports the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.  Kocharyan recalled Zeman’s statement made in Yerevan where he called the Czech Government and the Parliament to adopt a respective decision on recognizing the Armenian Genocide.  “The Czech President announced that he does not only support, but also will urge the Government and Parliament to start the recognition process. He talked about this issue last year, however, this time he said he will take additional steps for it. Time will show”, Deputy FM said during the briefing.

Czech President Milos Zeman, who is currently on an official visit in Armenia, visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial.  President Zeman paid tribute to the Armenian Genocide victims, laid a wreath at the Memorial and the Eternal Flame.  Afterwards the President toured the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.  Milos Zeman signed the Guest Book, by writing: “With deepest respects, to the memory of the Genocide victims”.
