EUR 102 mln for Rehabilitation of Vanadzor-Alaverdi Road: Artur Arakelyan
Artur Arakelyan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication, at today’s session introduced the financial contract on “M6 Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Georgian Border Interstate Road Rehabilitation and Improvement Project” signed in Luxemburg on January 29, 2016 and 26 January, 2016 in Yerevan between the Republic of Armenia and European Investment Bank, upon which EUR 102 million will be allocated for reconstruction of Vanadzor Alaverdi road.
According to the Deputy Minster, the program consists of two parts: a road with a length of 92km, and 3 tunnels will be rehabilitated, which were constructed in the Soviet period, however, from the very first moment they weren’t meant for lorries, some part (38 km) is totally in poor condition, which will be rehabilitated, in other parts partial improvement will be implemented, and the part near Georgia, rehabilitated by Lincy Foundation, will be changed.
A.Arakelyan stated, that the Ministry is responsible for its every expenditure.
