We Need to Respect Our Country’s History and its Principal Sides: Zakharova doesn’t Want to Comment on the Statement by Vahram Baghdasaryan
“We should respect one another,” Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, told 168.am. These days Zakharova reflected to erection of Garegin Nzhdeh’s statue in Yerevan. She particularly mentioned, “Moscow is surprised by erection of the statue to Garegin Nzhdeh, one of the founders of Armenian Legion of the Wehrmacht.” Representatives of Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) reflected to these observations, and Vahram Baghdasaryan, head of RPA faction, stated, that materials on Nzhdeh’s biography were sent to Russian Foreign Ministry, so that their Russian partners were more familiarized with Nzhdeh’s biography.
Maria Zakharova replied she doesn’t want to hear any question regarding it and deliver remarks either. “I consider, we should respect each other and understand, that sensitive issues are available both for Armenia and Russia, and only mutual respect towards the history is the basis for friendly ties, which is existent amid our states, and those relations have constantly been distinguished. Thus, we should respect history of our countries and observe its sensitive points with respect. If there are issues, they should be settled constructively,” she said.
To the allegation whether they received bibliographical materials, Zakharova replied, repeating, there are issues for Armenia, which are of principal importance for her, and Russia has always supported Armenia in those principal issues. “You are familiarized with our disposition, it’s not subject to any political conjuncture. We have showed it throughout many years. The same way sensitive issues are existent for Russia, which have principal character. I think, mutual respect is the guarantee for our relations and cooperation to continue for centuries,” highlighted Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation.
