Reduction of Electricity Tariff by AMD 2.58 not to have Essential Impact on Economy: Vahagn Khachatryan

According to economist Vahagn Khachatryan reduction of electricity tariff by AMD 2.58 won’t have essential impact on economy. He mentioned at today’s discussion that he links reduction of electricity and gas tariffs with the forthcoming elections, “Tariff changes are possible in December as well, as elections are to be held in spring.”

Tariff decrease, according to him, is not the maximum, “Methodology of electricity tariff development has nothing to do with market economy, and under these conditions the tariff may be made AMD 50-60, depending on what you intend to do, and vice versa, during the calculation of that tariff it may be reduced by AMD 10-15.”

According to the economist, tariff reduction will provide economy saving by AMD 8 billion, “The effect will simply be that. Saving of each family per month will comprise AMD 680-700. And we may give assessment from this, i.e. it’s not going to have essential impact on economy, as for pockets of citizens, it will nearly have no influence.”
