The Middle East will have a Great Loss without a Christian Center: Aram A
Jean-Marc Ayrault, Foreign Minister of France, is on a two-day visit in Lebanon, and he met religious leaders of the Christian community in Lebanon, His Holiness Aram A and bishop Shahe Panossian, head of the Diocese of Lebanon. This was informed by the press service of the Catholicosate of Cilicia.
Jean-Marc Ayrault stated that France is in touch with Lebanon. The Minister expressed his content that Lebanon succeeded to refrain from possible threats. He highlighted more influential participation of Christian communities in political life of Lebanon.
In his speech His Holiness reflected to the situation in the Middle East. He stated that in the Middle East Christian centers, churches, communities have always existed and were rather active.
“Currently Christianity faces serious challenges in the Middle East. Economic alert, unsafe conditions, terror and migration have serious implications. This situation isn’t only the concern of Christians, it should also become the concern of the Arabic world and Europe. Moreover, absence of Christian-Islam coexistence will turn that part of the world into a center of extremism. It’s a bothering phenomenon, practical expression of which we are already observing,” Aram A said. In his words, it’s anticipated, that France will frequently mention this issue in its foreign policy processes.
