To Prevent and Thwart New Crimes the NSS will be Forced to Take Tougher Measures as Dictated by the Specific Situation
The gunmen who have seized a police precinct in Yerevan – despite numerous urges to refrain from new crimes – continue harassing actions and encroachments endangering the lives and safety of law enforcement officers, as well as destruction of property. The National Security Service issued a statement:
“During the night of July 26 the chain of such actions led to a firefight, which resulted in wounded people. The National Security Service announces that the criminal behavior of the gunmen, which becomes gradually more and more dangerous, crosses all lines where it is possible to display reasonable restraint.
Therefore, in order to prevent and thwart new crimes the National Security Service will from now on be forced to take tougher measures as dictated by the specific situation. Being well aware of the gunmen’s intentions and prepared criminal actions, we warn that all threats to the lives and safety of citizens will immediately be neutralized by legitimate counter actions.
The aggressive and provocative nature of the gunmen’s actions is evidenced by the following legally acquired recording.”
