If Russians don’t Immediately Involve in the Game, Reconciliation may be Found: Igor Muradyan
Interview with political scientist Igor Muradyan.
Mr. Muradyan, developments of recent 10 days seem not to be solved yet. Which developments are possible?
Firstly, it’s worth fixing on developments around Armenia and the world, we don’t observe how quickly the relations develop in international arena. We rather stupidly underestimated, or to be more clear ignored Warsaw NATO Summit, and I think, rather treacherously withdrew from signing NATO program, which directly refers to us. However, NATO doesn’t forget us and offers Turkey to adopt a resolution on not attacking Armenia.
It’s a disaster for Russia, it realizes that the decision is against it, and will strive either not to allow, which it can’t, as Turkey assesses NATO’s opinion and is loyal to decision adopted in NATO, or Russia would rather prefer to edit that decision. Turkey isn’t interested in adoption of a unilateral resolution, as Armenia shouldn’t participate in it. Armenia is Russia’s colony and will do what Russia says, we have upsetting instances in Zurich and etc.
And current developments in Armenia speak of the fact that the authorities are in confusion. That issue may be solved rather quickly and easily.
How?
People dealing with the murder of the police officer, should bear responsibility, however, there are various people there, and it’s not clear who is guilty and who is not. It’s necessary to launch investigation. To all probabilities, Russia is very discontent of the occurrences, as what happened against his will, is against him. The group, which has taken the police patrol regiment, of course, is not politically ready, however, they didn’t appear against Russia, and it’s a fact. Russia seemed to be content, however, it’s rather concerned, as it’ll turn out against itself. And it has already been recorded, as lost, and weak-willed Armenia will agree on any decision, will accept everything decided on itself, with/without its participation. Armenia is not considered a country, and sovereign state.
It’s a pity that those in the territory of the police HQ didn’t take it into consideration. On the first day we asked, that I was sent there. If I entered the building, I’d explain to them what they need to do, that our enemy is Russia, and the authorities here are small people, who have neither willpower, nor perception what’s going on.
It’s being touched upon that the authorities are planning an attack against “Sasna Tsrer” armed group. But in case of attack bloodshed is inevitable. What do you think, will the authorities go to that?
Attack is not preferred, and I think it won’t be recorded. I think both sides will find an option of reconciliation. If Russians don’t directly involve in the game and start to insist, then reconciliation may be found. Current situation greatly depends on the rebels: even Russia doesn’t need such Armenia. For this very reason Russians will attempt to change existent state of affairs.
Does this mean that the situation should be solved only peacefully, through negotiations?
Of course, immense quantity of explosives are available in the building, it’ll be a disaster, if they explode. By all possible means we should avoid it, as long as there is the opportunity for that.
There were statements from Russia, that NATO stands behind these developments.
Of course, Russia should blame NATO. What else can they speak of? They are the same villains, like those of Yerevan, who insist that NATO summit is nonsense, and nothing important can take place there.
Do you observe influence of any external power linked to taking the police HQ?
You mean if not NATO, then who? It’s not a proper question, you should ask if not Russians, then which state? In everything that occurs in Armenia, not only in this case, Russian pigs are guilty.
If negotiations are launched, around what should they be?
Presently there is nothing they may negotiate, there is no negotiation material.
Then what is anticipated?
An idea came to my mind, which I don’t know how will be implemented: the authorities proposed, if they surrender, they won’t undergo criminal responsibility.
Is that possible?
This is a rather reasonable idea. What else could have been proposed? Nothing is possible to propose.
