Armenia’s economic activity rate rises by 6.2%

Armenia’s economic activity index for JanuaryFebruary 2017 surpassed the index of the same period of the previous year by 6.2%.

The National Statistical Service of Armenia has introduced the current-operative preliminary main macro-economic indicators characterizing the socio-economic situation of Armenia. Decline was registered in the construction field and consumer price index. Construction volume decreased by 13,8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The electricity production volume increased by 10,4% in January-February, 2017, compared to January-February, 2016. Service volume (trade excluded) increased by 11.1% compared to January-February, 2016, comprising 194 billion 194.4 million AMD, and agricultural production rose by 0.1%, comprising 40 billion 390.9 million AMD.

Consumer price index dropped by 0.4% in January-February, 2017, and the industrial production price index increased by 4.9%. Trade turnover increased by 9.6% and comprised 292 billion 199,5 million AMD.

The industrial production volume comprised 228 billion 434,3 million AMD, increasing by 16,1 % compared to January-February, 2016. Average monthly wage increased by 1.1% (188 thousand 440 AMD).

External trade turnover volumes rose by 22,2% (761 million USD) compared to January-February, 2016, moreover, the export grew up by 20,1% (273,7 million USD) and the import rose by 23,5% (487,3 million USD). US exchange rate against the dram was 486,26. All absolute rates are presented based on current prices.
