Mandatory military servicemen to be able to get involved in contractual service upon desire

Individuals who are subject to mandatory military service will be enabled to be involved in contractual service upon desire. The opportunity has been defined under the Armenian defense ministry’s new program on expanding the opportunities for contractual military service, the Defense Ministry told “Armenpress” in response to an inquiry, commenting on minister Vigen Sargsyan’s announcement that the ministry has completed a program which will expand possibilities for contractual service.

The purpose of introducing the program is to develop the system of contractual service, create a more professional army and increase the involvement of contractual servicemen in the process of combat shifts.

Asked whether the program implies increase of salaries for contractual servicemen, the ministry said, “The salaries of the servicemen are defined within the circles of the given year’s state budget and possibilities of midterm expenditure program.”
