Turkey won’t recognize PACE decision: Erdogan
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country won’t recognize the decision of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on degrading Turkey’s status to ‘under monitoring’, Reuters reported.
Erdogan also criticized the countries which urge to suspend the negotiations over Turkey’s membership to the EU. “As long as Europe remains honest, Turkey will be faithful to the negotiations process and unlike the EU it won’t shut the door on anyone’s face,” he said.
Erdogan also said if the process gets even more protracted, they won’t hesitate to hold a referendum on their country’s accession to the EU. The Turkish president also said the Constitutional Court and the ECHR don’t have the right to give assessment to the constitutional referendum.
