“I am honored to be here today. I know how important this day is for Armenia and the Armenians worldwide. Today on behalf of the US government and people I am here to pay tribute to the memory of 1.5 million Armenians who were killed in 1915,” Rafik Mansour told reporters.

The Armenian community of Montebello, California organized a commemorative event for the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Armenians gathered near the Montebello Memorial of the Armenian Genocide, where they called on the US government to recognize the Genocide.
“This isn’t the first time I’m in Armenia. I’ve been here in 2015 with my father. I’ve come on behalf of the Aznavour family, my presence here is very important for my family. The main message of my visit is to show the next generation that they have to always be here, we have to assist Armenia being strong and united, that’s why I’m here today,” he said.
The donation by a film company founded by the late Kerkor “Kirk” Kerkorian, an Armenian American philanthropist and businessman, will help establish the Promise Institute for Human Rights at UCLA School of Law.
April 24, 1915 has become one of the most tragic and bloody pages of our millennia-old history. In those April days the Ottoman Turkey launched a monstrous plan aimed at complete extermination of the Armenian people, annihilation of our historic homeland, cultural and spiritual values.
The march was convened by Young Armenians of Uruguay, a space that groups the youth organizations of the community. The march culminated in the reading of a proclamation by Mikael Demirdjian, who thanked Uruguay for its countless signs of support.
Commemorative events for the 102 nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will be held in Istanbul, Turkey. The events will kick off in the central Sultanahmet Square of the city.
