Cavusoglu says German lawmakers’ visit to Incirlik Air Base not possible
Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the visit of German lawmakers to Incirlik Air Base is not possible, Anadolu reports. Commenting on German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s statement where she said they will try for the last time to reach agreement with Turkey, and then will make a decision to stay in or leave Incirlik, Cavusoglu said, “Germany has negative stances on Turkey, and we voice about this very often. We see how Germany supports everything which is against Turkey.”
Speaking at a news conference with his Gabonese counterpart Pacome Moubelet Boubeya, the Turkish FM blamed the German side on supporting the Gulenists and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), as well as on exerting pressure on people in Germany who were in favor of the Turkish constitutional referendum.
He said in such circumstances it is not possible to allow the German lawmakers to visit the Air Base. Cavusoglu emphasized that if German takes some positive steps, they might reconsider their decision.
