Man charged with stabbing 36 year-old woman found insane
In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee circumstances of stabbing 36 year-old woman were found out. Sufficient evidence were obtained on the allegation that the woman had been stabbed by her brother-in-law who was found insane.
It was earlier informed that on January 22, 2018 36 year-old I. Karapetyan with cut-pierced wounds was taken to medical center.
A criminal case was initiated in the RA IC Investigative Division of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department and in the result of necessary and other procedural actions a number of circumstances significant for the criminal case were found, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified, he is the brother of the injured woman’s husband, born in 1976.
36 year-old I. Karapetyan was inflicted heavy bodily injuries threatening to life with a knife near one of the hotel complexes operating in Yerevan.
On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against her husband’s brother according to the Part 1 of the Article 34-104 of RA Criminal Code.
Through investigation data were obtained on the allegation that the defendant had some problems related to mental health and was registered in the center of mental health. Forensic psychiatric in-patient examination was commissioned to find out whether the latter was sane or insane and pursuant to its results the man was found insane. According to the forensic experts the man committed the mentioned crime under the influence of paranoid feelings which did not allow him to realize the danger of his actions and control them.
The investigator sent the criminal case to court with the decision of using compulsory medical measures against 42 year-old man for murder attempt in the state of insanity against the 36 year-old woman.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
