Authorities launch disorderly conduct investigation into Yerevan brawl involving activist Narek Malyan

The Yerevan prosecution has launched a criminal case regarding the incident that took place between members of the Restart initiative and public activist Narek Malyan, General Prosecution spokesperson Arevik Khachatryan told ARMENPRESS.

She said that the case is launched by the criminal code’s article on disorderly conduct committed by a group of people.

Narek Malyan said on Facebook that he was attacked by members of the Restart initiative Sunday night.

On-duty police officers intervened and detained the participants of the brawl.

Footage posted online by members of Restart themselves shows how they are seizing and tackling Maylan and moving him across a street.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan personally weighed in on the incident via Facebook, strongly condemning any kind of violence.

Any attempt of solving issues with violence in Armenia must receive a strict legal counteraction, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Facebook.

“All those who act with the logic of violence, distribution of lies and fakes in new Armenia, are acting against Armenia, against democracy, against the people,” he added.
