Armenian firefighters, Russian border troops join forces to tackle cross-border wildfire from Turkey
Armenian firefighters-rescuers, with support of the Russian border troops stationed in Armenia, have put out a wildfire which originated in Turkey and spread into the country, the Minister of Emergency Situations said.
911 received a call at 15:12, November 15 that a fire in Turkish territory can potentially spread into the Lake Arpi National Park in Shirak, Armenia.
Two firefighting engines were dispatched to the area. The fire was contained at 18:57 and put out at 19:30.
40 Russian border guards, 3 personnel of the national part and 7 civilians from a nearby village helped firefighters in tackling the fire.
