Immorality Parade: Whatever is allowed to Alen Simonyan’s sister-in-law is not allowed to Armen Ashotyan
Today, the Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Hakob Arshakyan informed that the CC will present a guarantee for Alen Simonyan’s sister-in-law.
According to 168.am, that decision was made by voting in Nikol Pashinyan’s CC yesterday evening.
Today, Hakob Arshakyan also added in the National Assembly that the guarantee will also apply to the other detainees, Ashot Hovhannisyan, director of Synergy Company, and Lili Mkryan, an employee of the same company, who has 2 infants.
There is a decision to provide guarantees for women with young children (Lili Mkryan, the wife of the brother of the President of the National Assembly’s and business development manager of the Synergy company Lili Mkryan – G. S.) and Ashot Hovhannisyan (Director of Synergy – G.S.). It’s a factional decision,” Arshakyan said.
The head of CC faction Hayk Konjoryan also said that there was a proposal from the deputies, there were also public impulses, it was also taken into account that there were certain mitigating circumstances, especially in the case of women, in terms of having young children, they are in a positive mood to submit a petition and most likely will present on February 6.
“Yesterday we discussed it at the session of the faction, we are in a positive mood, i.e. to file a petition. I think we will present it today. Basically, it is purely an organizational and technical issue. Now a session is going on,” said Konjoryan.
To the journalists’ question, whether the fact that she is Alen Simonyan’s brother’s wife is the very reason why they want to make such a petition, Konjoryan gave a negative answer.
“No, there is a mitigating circumstance regarding women. It is about the presence of young children. Regarding Ashot Hovhannisyan, during the discussion, thoughts were also expressed that he is quite a meritorious person in his field, and we believe that the change of the restraining order will not affect the quality of the examination, in fact, we have decided that we can take advantage of the opportunities provided by the legislation this time.”
And now the most ridiculous thing is that Konjoryan said that Pashinyan is not aware that the CC has decided to present a guarantee for Alen Simonyan’s sister-in-law and Ashot Hovhannisyan.
Konjoryan did not answer the question: why was such a decision not made during the detention of Tatev Virabyan, the sister of Gevorg Virabyan, who died in the 44-day Artsakh war, because she also has 2 young children?
Isn’t it obvious, that the CC did not make a decision on its own, and if there is a decision to present a guarantee in court regarding the above-mentioned persons, then it is at least agreed with Nikol Pashinyan. Therefore, on February 6, the guarantee will be presented, the court will satisfy, and the mentioned persons will be released.
Let it not be given the impression that we are justifying the detention of two female for an alleged crime of moderate severity, regardless of whether one of them is a family member.
But this government, a pioneer of double standards, whose representative could not answer the question about Tatev Virabyan today, will certainly not be able to comment on the situation regarding Armen Ashotyan, the vice-chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), who is in the same situation.
On January 8, the judge of the Anti-Corruption Court, Vahe Dolmazyan, decided to keep Armen Ashotyan in custody for another 3 months, whose being a political prisoner is not suspected by almost anyone in RA. Moreover. Among other measures of disruption, i.e. house arrest, 40 million drams bail, administrative control, the guarantee of 15 authoritative persons was also rejected. Among these people were internationally recognized foreign politicians, for example, the long-time chairman of the OSCE PA, Georgi Tsereteli, and the 37th president of Colombia, Andres Aragon, as well as other social and political figures, including Armen Ashotyan’s political opponents, ANC Vice-President Levon Zurabyan and Raffi Hovhannisyan, the founder of the “Heritage” party, prominent church figures and RA NA MPs from the opposition factions “Hayastan” and “I have honor”.
Judge Dolmazyan, for who the chairman of the OSCE PA and the president of Colombia did not inspire confidence, because he did not know them, when refusing the guarantee of the RA NA deputies, he gave the reason that Armen Ashotyan knows them well, has close relations with them and will influence the course of the investigation through the NA deputies, thus, essentially accusing the members of the National Assembly of complicity.
NOW QUESTION: Does Alen Simonyan (including his brother, sister-in-law, and others who participate in family and other events with them) not know the CC deputies, or can’t he influence the investigation through them for a family member or their business supporter, or does that thesis not work from the start.
This is yet another fact that once again confirms that Armen Ashotyan is a political prisoner, and international, including human rights organizations and structures should express a clear position regarding the actions of Nikol Pashinyan and his teammates.
