Aliyev’s statements are aimed at engaging his own people in new adventurism: Shavarsh Kocharyan

Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan has commented on the announcement of the president of Azerbaijan Ilham ALiyev on March 31 regardin Nagorno Karabakh issue.

In answer to the question of Aysor.am, Kocharyan announced, “The only internal issue of Azerbaijan over Nagorno Karabakh conict settlement is to prepare his public to the conict settlement based on the principles proposed by the mediators, which includes determination of Nagorno Karabakh status through a legally binding expression of will by the people of Artsakh.

The announcements of the president of Azerbaijan are another attempt to distract the attention of the domestic audience from the family-based authoritarian system, ubiquitous infringement of human rights and unfair persecution of dissidents.

These announcements coming instead of preparing his own people to peace are aimed at ignoring the gross consequences of the aggression against Nagorno Karabakh by Azerbaijan in 1990s and engaging his people in a new adventurism for the sake of maintenance of hereditary power.”
