After many months of silence and secrecy the details of proposed constitutional amendments were finally unveiled. In general, I was very disappointed with the details over the changes to the Constitution. But at the same time, president Sargsyan contributed something new to Armenian political history.
The Emabssy of the United States of America made a comment for 168.am concerning PM Tigran Sargsyan’s resignition. “We have successfully worked with former Prime Minister Sargsian on a wide range of issues of bilateral interest and welcome the opportunity to work with and support the reform efforts of Armenia’s next Prime Minister”.
Will Serz Sargsyan leave the power to Robert Kocharyan or Levon Ter-Petrosyan? This question may seem strange as both of the previous presidents are in evident or hidden rival against the current president.
“The voting of Armenia regarding the Crimea conflict at the UN GA was a real shame for Armenia. Nothing like that has ever happened during our independence period. We have never appeared in such a slave status,” yesterday stated NA MP, former foreign affairs minister Alexander Arzumanyan.
“The reason why Armenia voted against the resolution on Crimea at the UN General Assembly was highly connected with the NKR conflict and the influence of Russia,” told our reporter an expert of the Global Insight analytic center Lilit Gevorgyan. “Armenia is considered as a satellite state of Russia and indeed it is no news for Europe and US that Armenia is not a very independent state and doesn’t have a free foreign policy,” she said.
The Russian analysts and political scientists can be blamed of everything except the lack of honesty and sincerity. They say whatever they think when they speak about Armenia. Zhirinovsky is saying that it would be right to include Karabakh in Russia another nationalist is saying, “If you don’t wish to become a member of the Customs Union get the hell out of Karabakh.”
Back in 1997, when NATO was expanding due to Eastern Europe, Russia announced that it was the continuation of the frozen war, and such expansion would be negative. The next issue is the Black Sea and port. During the Soviet time the Crimea and Ukraine were a part of a big country, and a significant part of the Black Sea port infrastructure was concentrated in Sevastopol of the Crimea.
Armenians must speak up, protest, and take effective action to defend their countrymen in all corners of the world. They need to become the ‘mouse’ that ROARS!
The Russian economy has had impressive growth period, however, it was not due to the existing capital and new investments but limitation of new potential investments and growth. Though the Russian financial situation as better compared to a number of developing countries, there were also massive investment projects such as the one in Sochi, which are over now.
If our ambassador spoke in Germany about the German pension reform I cannot even imagine what would happen to him. As of the political problem we all know that Armenia also has a self-determination objective with the Karabakh conflict. Therefore, the self-determination of any nation is important to us.
