When we say opposition we mean Raffi Hovhannisian
Prior to the presidential elections of February 18 the number one opposition party of Armenia was the ANC and number one opposition leader was Levon Ter-Petrosyan. All the hopes of conducting revolution and changing the country were connected to him. After the presidential elections the situation drastically changes in the country and Raffi Hovhannisian takes on the role of the opposition and his Heritage party. Raffi Hovhannisian who yesterday announced his intention of conducting peaceful rallies without violating the constitution, may reach the point when the change of opposition in the country may become irreversible. And this might happen only in one day. On March 1, ANC announced his intention to conduct a rally. The last rally of the ANC took place almost eight months ago and after that this structure never dared to hold another one despite its statement to hold a rally in September. But it never happened because the ANC feared that by doing that they’d show the fading numbers of their supporters. On March 1, most probably, the Heritage party will also hold a rally. That’s when it will become clear that the army of supporters of Raffi Hovhannisian is much bigger than that of Ter-Petrosyan and that’s when Raffi Hovhannisian will de jure become the leader of opposition. It’s noteworthy that the former member of Ter-Petrosyan’s team NA MPs Nikol Pashinyan and Karapet Rubinyan have already publicly stated that they endorse Raffi Hovhannisian as the leader of opposition.
