Armenia’s Benefit is Influential: Steffen Elgersma

“We are satisfied with Armenia-NATO relations,” stated Steffen Elgersma, Senior Expert for Euro‐ Atlantic Integration and Partnership of NATO Headquarters, in his speech at “Armenia-NATO relations: challenges and perspectives ahead Warsaw NATO summit” forum.

Steffen Elgersma noted, that NATO and Armenia have wider possibilities to develop their relations. According to the speaker, international security environment is crucial for NATO, and he considers, wider discussions will be launched in these days.

In Elgersma’s words, discussions have been launched with Armenia’s authorities, target of which was revision of Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan, as well as goals, which Armenia pursues for its security and defence.

“First and foremost we’re satisfied with NATO-Armenia developments. Today we have history of 20-year relations. Armenia assumes long-term commitments to participate in NATO peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan. On account of Armenia’s security challenges, Armenia’ benefit is influential, we welcome long-term commitments assumed by you,” Elgersma said.
