We Saw Them Shoot Their Withdrawing Soldiers: General Balasanyan Tells New Details from the Front

Resumption of military actions by Azerbaijan wasn’t unexpected to me, as when we concluded the ceasefire agreement 12 May, 1994, the adversary started to get ready for the war.

Vitali Balasanyan, NKR NA MP, General, told about this to Artsakh Public TV, who made curious statements.

“We managed to give proper reply in time, we were accurately managing the fire, as our artillerymen and other specialists did a big job and they know every meter. Azerbaijan isn’t the only one to possess unmanned combat aerial vehicles, Karabakh Defense army also has them, and we also fly them in time and people see the coordinates,” the Artsakh war hero said.

Vitali Balasanyan also mentioned, “They waged a rather literate war both strategically and militarily. Operations have been definitely failed, however, this doesn’t mean they were illiterate…I’m sure they have been properly drilled. They aren’t weak, one shouldn’t underestimate Azerbaijan. Our issue is our mobilization and rearrangement in a short period, our mobile movement, to take our positions. The adversary imagined that after shelling we won’t be able to take our positions. Particularly, it was rather easy for them, as they posses UAVs, and it’s easy to observe from the air and wage the war, they did it literally.”

Now a question arises: why did they fail to do it? We need to ask it to the junior Aliyev, Minister of Defence, head of headquarters, currently serving in the Azerbaijani army. I’m convinced, very few people are literate there. Lower link of the troop is always under pressure. We observe what’s going on—hungry, thirsty. We observe both from the air and from position to position.”

The General also confirmed that they observed from the Armenian positions how the Azerbaijanis were firing on their withdrawing soldiers.
