Presently Everyone is at Risk in Turkey, Particularly Armenians and Kurds: Kurdish Politician
“Hazardous situation in Turkey will continue as long as there is no proper reflection by the EU and the USA,” Nazmi Gür, deputy co-leader of the HDP in charge of external affairs, told 168.am, touching upon the reasons and implications of resignation of Ahmet Davutoğlu, former Turkish PM.
On the whole, he positively assessed resignation of Davutoğlu, as the latter was carrier of Erdoğan’s policy. According to Gür, at a certain moment Erdoğan’s tougher political approaches initiated serious disagreements between Erdoğan and Davutoğlu, which made the latter resign.
“This means Erdoğan will continue his policy in all directions, which day by day originates more issues in the world, in the region, and inside the country, by instigating conflicts with all its neighbors, and sharpening relations. The existent explosive situation linked to the Kurdish issue, refugees and political issues inside Turkey don’t stop Erdoğan.
Erdoğan is silencing all his dissidents by most cruel means, attempting even to perform it towards the Parliament members, against who our MPs are protesting, thus, appearing in a dangerous situation. Issues are numerous—both external and internal. Erdoğan chooses all bad ways, they all lead to war, he fails all peaceful processes,” Nazmi Gür said, adding, that present-day developments don’t promise any positive development to Turkey.
Touching upon Armenia-Turkey relations, Gür stated, that occurrences with Davutoğlu reflect whole Turkish reality.
“There is no any desire for compromising, improving relations with Armenia, which are conditioned by Azerbaijan as well, and a range of factors, interests, Russia-Turkey tension, Syrian conflict. All this is linked to one another and either will instantly be settled, or just the contrary. Davutoğlu was for concessions, however, his resigning means one should forget about them, and one should forget about any possibility for progress to be recorded in Armenia-Turkey relations,” he said.
To the question, whether it’s possible that the Armenian community in Turkey will appear at risk, on account of threats by Erdoğan directed to RA president Serzh Sargsyan, that more than 100 thousand Armenians live in Turkey, some of which without a residence permit, Gür said everybody feels unsafe in Turkey now, thus, everybody should be cautious, in particular, Armenians and Kurds. In his words, the West should show determination towards the Turkish leader and toughly reflect to his all steps, not refusing European value system. “The USA and the EU may restrain Erdoğan, however, they don’t do, as they have interests in Turkey, but all this will go on as long as proper reflection by the EU and the USA isn’t recorded,” the Kurdish politician said.
