Medvedev Stresses Importance of Quick Ratification of EEU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement
Dmitry Medvedev, RF Prime Minister, stressed the necessity of deepening the cooperation between the third countries and international economic unions and emphasized the importance of the ratification of the free trade agreement with Vietnam in an accelerated scheme by the EEU member states during the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council session. In this context, he spoke about expanding the trade and economical relations with China stating that they agreed upon the negotiation format with China during the discussion with a small group of Prime Ministers.
Referring to the EEU internal issues Medvedev said they put their focus to strengthen the contractual base, to provide fully movements of capital, goods, services, labor movement, to overcome the obstacles that arise during the integration process, as well as to form single market in the key sectors of the economy. Undoubtedly, one of the key issues of the EEU is the adoption of the Customs Code, the agreement of which is delayed. We agreed upon quickly implementing this. In fact, today we can fix the date of the final adoption of this important document”, Medvedev stated.
According to him the Code will unify and facilitate the process of customs formation making it predictable business for the public. Coming to the formation of a single market for Oil and crude Medvedev stated that they have also discussed this issue within the narrow meeting and stressed the importance of having a single market with clear working rules and principles in a short period of time up until 2025.
Moreover, the participants of the session plan to sign several agreements on the movement of weapons. “The consolidation of that regime is very important since those who deal with this issue, should feel unified themselves in that field”, Medvedev said.
Russian Prime Minister expressed hope that it will be possible to expand all types of mutual cooperation in the medium term, including also the investments in various sectors of the economy, the strengthening of the cooperation in the new industrial sectors.
