Samvel Babayan Returned to Armenia Yesterday: Gnel Ghlechyan

Samvel Babayan, former commander of NKR Defense army, founder of “Alliance” party, returned to Armenia yesterday, tert.am reported. Former member of “Alliance” party Gnel Ghlechyan confirmed this information.

“Yes, Samvel Babayan returned to Yerevan yesterday, after about 5 years or absence,” Ghlechyan said adding, that he couldn’t say for which very purpose Babayan was back to Armenia. Note, a petition has been initiated after the four-day war with a claim on return of Samvel Babayan.

The message issued by the civic initiative reads, “Founder of Artsakhi Defense army, former Minister of Defense of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, general-lieutenant Samvel Babayan was back to Armenia today. The latter was in Moscow in the recent period.

The Azerbaijanis shudder at the name of this Artsakhi hero. Besides his serious military knowledge and tactical flair, this person has immense psychological influence over the enemy. There are many legends around his name.

Until 4 August 1992, when Babayan wasn’t commander of the Defense Army yet, Shahumyan, 80% of Martakert region, 9 villages of Askeran region, 18 villages of Hadrut region were withdrawn, and the adversary was located near Martuni city. In fact, 47% of Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast. Babayan succeeded to form a regular army from guerilla troops, which wouldn’t stop before anything and bring the nation to victory.
