“We have a Law Enforcement, which isn’t Able to Protect its Regiment from Attacks and Seizures, but Beats Reporters and Citizens”

According to Ruben Mehrabyan, political scientist, what has happened, is the best of possible exits. He told reporters, that it may seem today the crisis has been overcome by that, but in his words today we deal with total political crisis, “Previous two weeks showed that any institute in Armenia isn’t able to respond adequately to any event. State system showed total inactivity. We saw, that we have an issue not only with the authorities but with the whole political field. Settlement has been observed, and the NA continues enjoying its vacation. We can speak of deceased National Assembly, and I have nothing to add, as only the good is said about the deceased, or nothing, there is nothing good, thus, I’ll say nothing.”

In his words, these days we also saw, that we have such a law enforcement, which isn’t able to protect its regiments from attacks, seizures, however, on the other hand, it beats reporters and citizens, “We see investigative bodies, which after the occurrence call the beaten reporter and say—if you don’t give evidence on hindering operations of the police, you’ll be brought to responsibility. This is the condition of rule of law in our country. Rather upsetting one. Policy is dead in Armenia. These developments occurred also for the reason that the authorities have closed all legal tubes of expression of the citizens.”

The political scientist stated that currently all the systems don’t operate, “They have turned into their caricature. Here I observe only to subjects, which are able to give solution to an issue—the authorities and the citizens. There is no any other subject in Armenia. Today everything will depend on how the civil society will be structuralized and what political agenda will be set forward.”
