If Russia doesn’t Review its Policy in Post-Soviet Countries, It should be Ready to Lose Those Countries and Established Organization: Nikita Isaev

“The April war wasn’t the last outbreak of Karabakh conflict, obviously, it has passed into Armenia’s domestic policy, which edified developments of the last two weeks,” Nikita Isaev, Director of the Institute of contemporary Economics, politician, told reporters today, stating that Russia has taken a neutral position,

“Currently Russia settles its relations with Turkey, China attempts to construct the Silk Road, all these don’t allow Russia to actively support Armenia, our strategic ally. Besides, there are opinions inside the country, that’s it’s necessary to leave Armenia, and recent statement by Zhirinovsky, and Russia’s 15% supports him, as result of all these, statements on supporting Armenia are heard less from Russian politicians.”

He stated, if Russia doesn’t review its policy in post-Soviet countries, including Armenia, it should be ready to lose those countries and the established organizations, “In this case Russia may face isolation from international arena. Now it needs to orientate. I consider, in September those decisions will be approved and a more clear signal will be recorded from Russia, regarding Armenia.”

Karine Gevorgyan, political scientist, who was back from Russia, also shared the opinion that Russia should review its policy pursued in the post-Soviet countries. However, she also mentioned that weakening of Russia’s positions in the region, will urge Armenia face a harder condition, “On account of infringement by the ISIL, threat of war resumption in Karabakh is big.”

Regarding Russia-Turkey relations the political scientist stated, that Russia will maintain them on economic platform, “It’s another issue, that Turkey and Azerbaijan will attempt to move that to a political field.”
