What will attract investors according to Emil Tarasyan?

“The main issue linked to investors and investments doesn’t refer to the income tax. We have much more attractive tools,” Emil Tarasyan, Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Investments, told after the session, commenting on the statement by president Serzh Sargsyan that the Tax Code provides privileges to investors in Armenia.

In his words, free economic zones, trade regimes GSP and GSP+ are rather attractive privileges for the investors.

Referring the Tax Code, E.Tarasyan stated that they have intensive connection with businessmen, the Ministry conducts analysis in which Tax Code the directions may prevent economic growth and what possible changes may be implemented.

E.Tarasyan hesitated to state a point in the Tax Code, which he considers bothering. Instead he stated the concern in the field of IT, that those receiving higher salaries face issues regarding the income tax.

To the question of 168.am why impact assessments of the Tax Code remained secret, while in case of all legislative initiatives their publication was mandatory, the Deputy Minister only stated that in case of journalistic inquiry impact assessments will be provided.
