United States had supplied the PKK terror group’s Syrian wing, the YPG: Turkish Foreign Ministry
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Thursday it was “clearly known” that the United States had supplied the PKK terror group’s Syrian wing, the YPG.
Cavusoglu was also critical of U.S.-led coalition forces which had not recently given air support to Turkey-backed opposition fighters taking part in Operation Euphrates Shield against Daesh, Anadolu agency reports.
His remarks came on a live TV interview early on Thursday.
The minister stressed Turkey would never allow “terror cantons” in northern Syria.
The YPG is the armed wing of the PYD – the Syrian offshoot of the PKK, which is designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.
