Junior Sergeant charged for negligent discharge of firearm
The first Garrison Investigative department of the Investigative Committee revealed the circumstances which led to serviceman Gurgen Sargsyan suffering gunshot wounds. Charges have been pressed against a junior Sergeant, the Investigative Committee informed.
Upon initial data, Private Gurgen Sargsyan suffered a gunshot wound to the head at 23:55, January 16 while on duty in an unspecified military position, as result of negligent use and violation of firearm safety rules by a junior Sergeant.
The investigation revealed the junior Sergeant has pulled the trigger of a service firearm while conducting a routine check of the magazine and cartridges, negligently causing a gunshot wound to G Sargsyan.
The junior Sergeant has been charged and remanded in custody.
Investigation continues. Notice – Suspect is innocent until proven guilty by the Court of Law.
