Armenia expects stable economic growth from 2018: PM Karen Karapetyan to Reuters

Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan gave an interview to Reuters. “Armenia is ready to take such steps, which will result in cutting state spending, obstacles for private sector investments will be eliminated, in order for the country’s economy to be on a stable basis next year,” the PM said.

The PM mentioned that the newly formed Center for Strategic Initiatives will design long term and short term programs jointly with eh private sector.

Karapetyan said attracting a total of 850 million dollars worth investments this year is realistic, with a larger part from the private sector.

The Government’s Press Service informed, according to the Prime Minister “we will be able to resist challenges and achieve 3.2% economic growth in this year.”

“When we stabilize the economic situation, we will be able to have steady economic growth in 2018,” Karapetyan said.

The PM also said the Cabinet will focus on tackling corruption.
