Minsk may sign EEU Customs Code soon: Foreign Ministry of Belarus

Belarusian leadership does not rule out that the Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will be signed in the nearest future, spokesman of the country’s Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik said.

“We assume no open questions to us will be left in the nearest future,” he said.

According to Mironchik, Minsk consistently advocates for a close integration within the Eurasian Economic Union and is strongly committed to the implementation of all agreements that have been reached at all levels, reports TASS.

“As of now the analysis of all papers proposed for signing in December 2016 has been completed,” he added.

Presidents of four EAEU member-states (Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Kazakhstan) signed the EAEU Customs Code at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on December 26, 2016 in St. Petersburg. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko was absent from the meeting.

The Customs Code of the EAEU will succeed to the Customs Code of the Customs Union approved in 2009. It is expected to come into force starting July 1, 2017.
