Le Pen proposes alternative union to EU

French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen wants to create “Alliance of European free and sovereign states” instead of the EU, she told Europe 1. “I am a European, but I do not want to preserve this political establishment which has fully deviated from its path.

For example, we could establish a European alliance allowing states to unify over one program and will not contradict their national interests because the main problem with the EU is that it has turned nearly totalitarian,” Le Pen said.

The presidential candidate believes that together with other European states suffering from the EU they will be able to radically change EU’s functions.
